Miranda Biography

Already at an early age, Miranda began her musical journey. At five years she couldn't keep her hands of the piano, whether she was at home or at day-care. That made her father realize he had a musically talented daughter, so he bought her a small Casio; you know the kind that blinks and plays bossanova rhythms.

Miranda Live   When she, at the age of 19, moved from Stockholm to Gothenburg, she discovered the city's nightlife with its underground parties and clubs. At that time trance didn't really exist; it was progressive acid house that filled the air. The music, atmosphere and clubbing crowd however inspired her to begin making her own music again. But it was not until the beginning of '95, when trance seriously began to make itself heard; that Miranda found what she was searching for. When she purchased an Atari computer and some simple synthesizers, her music began taking the form that we are used to hear from her.

In the beginning of 1996 Miranda released, under the name Athena, a 12" together with DJ Tsuyoshi (Prana) Miranda Live at Belgrade - Boat 'Kolos' 17.04.1998.on the Matsuri label. Things then began to happen. In Sweden, Miranda's music  was played on trance parties, and on national radio she featured in an "artist special" where her track Future Space Travelers was presented as the 12" Of The Week. Trance now had a Swedish face. With only half a dozen tracks, the English trance label Koyote offered her a deal, much thanks to DJ Anti from Spiral Trax, who introduced her to them. That resulted in the album Phenomena, which was released in the beginning of 1997. Soon enough, Miranda's name was well known in trance circles, with gigs all over the world as a result. Taiwan, Japan, Yugoslavia, Israel, England, Greece, France and Germany are just some of the countries where she's made praised performances. DJ-ing has never really appealed to her; she feels at home when she can play on her synthesizers and sequencers, which shows in her intense performance.

- "My best memory so far must be the time I played live at the Gaia festival in Paris 1997. 7500 people stood and shouted "Miranda, Miranda" as crazy. It was an incredible experience! ": she says.

When '97 turned into '98, Miranda transferred to the larger and well acclaimed French label Distance Records. With the album Real Rush, released in February, she took the step into the crème de la crème of trance artists. Today she is, without doubt, one of the world's greatest artists in her genre.

Problems may occur when an artist is not based in the same country as their label, so in 1998 Miranda decided to leave Distance for the Swedish label Goldhead Music.

Her music can today be found all over the world in form of albums, 12" and on 20-something compilations. She has also released 12" vinyls on other labels, such as Mash, Coyote and Spiral Trax.

In March of 1999 she released with great success “Northern Lights” LP and toured whole world.
